Doing what Colnago does, they drew up the women's-specific CLD knowing very well that they didn't want to merely design a smaller race bike with new colors, but rather reshape their renowned carbon lay-up according to a carefully drafted geometry scheme. This reworked geometry features a shorter top tube and taller headtube, resulting in a shorter reach and a taller stack. What this does for the rider is provide a more natural upright riding position instead of a stretched out, hunched position, hence better handling and prolonged comfort. In addition to the rewritten geometry, the CLD's carbon layup was put under the scalpel in order to reduce the amount of material used in the frame. This material reduction only made sense as the frame's geometry is catered to accommodate smaller body types, therefore the same amount of carbon material used in the bigger men's specific frames was not necessary here. The result is a reduction in weight and a supple ride quality that doesn't miss a beat. You should also know that the carbon used in the CLD isn't some bottom-of-the-shelf carbon. In fact, its Colnago's pro-level fiber and resin mix, meaning you can spot the CLD within the pandemonium of the pro peloton. Aligning with the thoroughly designed frame, Colnago wisely equipped the CLD to be consistent with the frame's geo. For instance, the Deda Elementi stem is shorter and the han-dle bars are nar rower to better suit smaller framed riders. Additionally, the CLD comes with a Selle Italia Lady saddle that is anatomically structured to ensure nothing short of long-lasting comfort. Looking to the rest of the parts package, Colnago appointed Shimano Ultegra 6800 to drivetrain duty and kept the brakes and seatpost spots in house.
