The roar of the crowd startles you back to reality and you find that you've been daydreaming again; yet another colorful vision just out of reach. The Diamondback Podium is the kind of bike daydreams are made of, the caliber of road race machine that demands admiration and respect. As its name suggests (Vitesse meaning speed) , going really fast across the tarmac is the Vitesse's specialty. Designed not to be just a top-of-the-line carbon competition bike, but one to give all best in the biz a run for their money, the Podium Vitesse has everything you need to take your riding to the next level. Whether you're a weekend warrior looking to add some pro style and performance to your bike stable, or a seasoned racer that needs a no BS bike that will respond flawlessly and deliver the kind of performance that reinforces your well-honed skills, look no further than the front of the pack-the Diamondback Podium Vitesse. In initial development meetings, one thing was abundantly clear: Diamondback was determined to create the best road frame possible. From the chiseled aero shaping borrowed from their revolutionary Serios TT bike, to the latest integrated cable routing design, no expenses were spared in the production of the 2016 Podium Vitesse. The process began with trying to figure out how to make a carbon road bike more user and performance friendly not just for the top racers of the world but also the diehard privateers who ride thousands of miles a year. At the same time, Diamondback strives to maintain the ride quality that is a trademark of Diamondback Podium bikes. The handling, weight, aerodynamics, geometry of each frame and each size is taken into account to ensure that every product embodies the signature Diamondback feel. Diamondback sets clear and concise goals to ensure that the Podium is a world-class frame, utilizing 3D Modeling, wind tunnel testing, and real world feedback from the pro riders of Team Optum. The Podium is handmade using Diamondback's Advanced Monocoque Molding SLP Process (AMMP) . AMMP ensures that each piece of carbon ply is laid precisely where the engineers want it. These carbon plies are hand-wrapped around a pre-form foam core, using a pneumatic internal bladder in the shape of the product. To achieve a precise mold during this layup process, the emerging product is surrounded with a plastic cavity, guaranteeing a perfect fit. Silicone mandrel shells are then used to reinforce critical joint areas, this process helps create smoother overlapping fibers at these vital junctions-such as the head tube and the bottom bracket. Each silicone shell is joined together prior to placing the product in the steel mold. In this final mold, a proprietary coating is used for optimal fiber adhesion. For the 2016 Podium, Diamondback chose to use unidirectional high modulus 40T carbon for straighter portions of the frame, and a less brittle 30T and 20T carbon for complex shapes and sections where compliance is more important. The frame featured on the Podium Vitesse addresses both torsional and vertical stiffness to hone in on the perfect balance of compliance, response, and low weight. In doing so, the 2016 Podium's tubes were widened and shortened to maximize both aerodynamics and stiffness, while its 27.2mm seat tube diameter takes care of the compliance. The end result is a frame thats 50% faster than its preddecessor by shedding 100 grams and saving up to 10 watts of energy. After ensuring their frame was perfected to the point of making any lycra-wearing, leg shaving roadie swoon, Diamondback knew the only thing left to do was to decorate it in a ''nothing-but-business'' component arrangement.
