This year, Diamondback made the decision to adapt the Mason to 27. 5+ wheels, adding front and rear Boost spacing to give the Mason better traction through challenging, rubbly trail conditions and a stiffer, burlier ride. Diamondback keeps the Mason at decidedly palatable price point by shaping its frame out of treated 6061-T6 aluminum, the lightweight, durable standard for high-end alloy frames. The geometry leaves the frame long-and-low, affording the Mason more versatility than traditional hardtails, with a 66. 5-degree head tube angle and 17-inch chainstays for all-mountain stability on descents. Up front, a RockShox Reba fork provides 120mm of bump-absorbing plushness for the many days you'll be tempted to take the Mason off smooth XC singletrack. Front and rear Boost spacing stiffens the entire frame, as the wider hubs necessitate a more acute, and consequently stronger, spoke bracing angle than traditional spacing, especially when paired with much beefier Boost hubs.
